The Hemipristis, or snaggletooth as it is known, is a shark that still exists today. It has been called the fossil shark as it was believed to have gone extinct. A smaller version has since been found in the Indian Ocean. However, there was a larger version of this shark that lived several million years ago. Their teeth were much larger than those of today's hemi. These teeth that we find are from that larger hemi that lived in the Miocene period. |
